THE QUEBEC PROVINCIAL COMMAND
Quebec Provincial Command is the Provincial Command of the Royal Canadian Legion organized and constituted in the Province of Quebec by the Dominion Command of the Royal Canadian Legion under the authority of its Act of Incorporation and General Bylaws.
The affairs of the Command shall be administered by a Convention, an Executive Council and a Sub-Executive Committee.
The Convention shall be the supreme authority within the Command.

Women Veterans Experiencing Homelesness

Dr. Cheryl Forchuk is conducting research on women veterans who have been or are homeless.
To our knowledge, no study of this type has been carried out in Canada.
Dr. Cheryl Forchuk: "I said I would let everyone know as soon as we had research ethics approval for our new study regarding a gender-specific study to address the issues identified by veterans who identify as women, who have experienced homelessness."
Thank you all so much for the offers of support in helping connect us with veterans who would be interested in learning more to potentially participate in this study.
The participants can have past or current experience of homelessness.
I am attaching a poster and a hand-out that could assist in recruiting to the study.

Miscalculation of Disability Pensions Class Action
March 19, 2024
We are pleased to inform you that the Federal Court decision approving the settlement of this class proceeding became effective on March 19, 2024.
Later this year, Class Members who currently receive disability pensions directly from Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) will automatically receive settlement payments from VAC by direct deposit or cheque.
Estates, family members of deceased Class Members and other Class Members who do not currently receive disability pensions directly from VAC will be required to submit a Claim by March 19, 2025. Claims can be submitted at the administrator’s website:

A dedicated call center has been established by the administrator to address general inquiries and help individuals complete the online claims form.

Government of Canada announces free daily admission to Parks Canada administered places for members and Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their immediate family members

The Government of Canada acknowledges and respects the extraordinary contributions and sacrifices made by Canadian Veterans, active Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, and their families.
Today, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, and the Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, announced that Parks Canada will be providing free daily admission to active CAF members, Veterans of the CAF, and their immediate families.

Frequently Asked Questions on the Development of the Canada Disability Benefit Regulations

The Canada Disability Benefit Act received Royal Assent on June 22, 2023. The Act provides the legal framework for a new Canada Disability Benefit.
The goal of the Benefit is to reduce poverty and support the financial security of working-age persons with disabilities.
As framework legislation, the details of the Benefit—such as eligibility and amount—will be set in future regulations.
This approach, in the spirit of “Nothing Without Us,” allows the Government to continue to engage with Canadians with disabilities and other stakeholders to inform the Benefit’s design.

Madame Nicole Robidoux Beauchamp, mother of “Corporal Nicolas Raymond Beauchamp” who died on November 17, 2007, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, was chosen by the Quebec Provincial Command as “Silver Cross Mother” for the year 2023.
- Mother of two boys and grandmother of two boys and two girls.
- Retired from Bell Canada.
- Involved in volunteer work for 53 years, including 28 years with the Canadian Red Cross.
- Member of Branch 002, Saint-Hyacinthe.
- Volunteer with the Hope program for the Canadian Army program.
- Recipient of the "Prix Hommage Bénévolat Québec 2023".
- Wife of Robert Beauchamp for 53 years.

Donation to groups of veterans participating in the Poppy Campaign
At the 2022 Royal Canadian Legion, Quebec Provincial Command convention held September 24, 2022, at Branch 185 St-Eustache, a question was raised about veterans’ groups that help with the Poppy campaign if we can give them money from the Poppy fund as we do with the cadets.
The correct answer is NO.
